Sifrei Torah Rescued from Early Morning Blaze in Lakewood’s Westgate Neighborhood

A fast-moving fire broke out early Thursday morning at a residence in Lakewood’s Westgate neighborhood, prompting the rescue of several sifrei Torah from the burning home.

The blaze ignited around 4:00 AM and quickly engulfed the structure, with intense fire visible from outside the home as firefighters arrived on scene.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported.

Members of the Lakewood Fire Department managed to retrieve the sifrei Torah that were inside the home, removing them safely before the flames could reach them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
