A suspect who allegedly fired multiple shots in the High Point area led Toms River Police and Lakewood Police on a pursuit along Route 70 and several local streets before bailing out on Chestnut Street and fleeing into a wooded area.
Lakewood Police officers pursued the suspect on foot and apprehended him in the forest.
A large police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues. Motorists are advised to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
