Shomrim Shabbos Member Helps Thwart Car Theft in Lakewood

On Friday night, a Shomrim Shabbos team member conducting a patrol on Central Ave. observed two vehicles moving at a high rate of speed, and one of the vehicles occupied by two males wearing ski masks.

The Shomrim member performed a U-turn and kept an eye on one of the vehicles, which then turned onto Monterrey Circle before its occupants exited it and fled upon seeing the member.

The Shomrim member called in the Lakewood Police Department and remained with the vehicle until officers arrived. A subsequent investigation determined that the vehicle had been stolen Friday night from a local residence.
The vehicle has since been returned to its owner.

Lakewood Shomrim thanks its dedicated Shabbos member for his exemplary work and the Lakewood PD for their partnership and assistance in dealing with this matter.
