HaRav Avrohom Schindler z”l, a revered talmid chacham and beloved Rebbe to generations of talmidim, was niftar on Tuesday in Lakewood, just shy of his 98th birthday.
Rav Schindler was long admired for his many years as a devoted Rebbe at Yeshiva of Eastern Parkway and later at Yeshiva Ohr Hameir in Peekskill, where his warmth and dedication to his talmidim left a lasting imprint. An early talmid of Rav Yitzchok Hutner zt”l, Rav Schindler carried forward the mesorah of his rebbi throughout his life of avodas Hashem and harbotzas Torah.
For much of his life, Rav Schindler resided in Crown Heights, where he was a central figure and backbone of the famed Minyan HaKollel associated with Yeshiva Chaim Berlin. The minyan, known for its consistency and seriousness, continued functioning in Crown Heights for decades, until around the time Rav Schindler relocated to Lakewood approximately 20 years ago.
His levaya took place Tuesday in Lakewood, attended by family, talmidim, and members of the community who came to pay kavod acharon to a life devoted to Torah.
The family is sitting shiva through Monday morning at 1187 Idalia Avenue in Lakewood.
Yehi zichro baruch.
