For the second time in three days, Jackson authorities responded to a bomb threat, this time targeting St. Aloysius Church on Bennetts Mill Road and its adjoining school. Police evacuated the entire property out of “an abundance of caution,” according to a statement from the Jackson Police Department.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and emphasized that the evacuation was a precautionary measure while the threat is being investigated. Access to the church and school grounds remains restricted, and authorities have urged residents to avoid the area due to potential traffic delays.
The nature of the threat has not yet been disclosed, but police noted that all individuals on the premises were safely removed. The investigation is ongoing, and updates are expected to be released through official channels.
This latest scare follows a bomb threat at the Jackson Premium Outlets on Friday. That incident prompted a temporary shutdown of the shopping center, though the threat was later deemed unfounded after a full K-9 sweep.
Authorities have not indicated whether the two threats are believed to be connected.
