Emergency responders, including Hatzolah, Howell EMS, firefighters, and police, rushed to the scene of an MVA on Tuesday involving a school bus that struck a tree on Lakewood-Farmingdale Road (Squankum Road) near Oak Glen Road, just outside Lakewood in Howell.
Authorities say the bus veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree shortly after 10 a.m. The 52-year-old driver, who was the sole occupant of the bus, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
No students were on board at the time of the crash. Police have not released the driver’s identity or said whether the bus belonged to the Howell Township School District or a private transportation company.
