SCAM ALERT: Brick Police Department Phone Number Used in Bitcoin Scam

Residents of Brick Township are being warned of a scam circulating in the area, utilizing the Brick Township Police Department’s phone number (732-262-1100).

According to the police department, three complaints have been filed regarding automated calls claiming to be from the Brick Township Police Department. The calls reference a “family report” and mention the names of past and present officers, in an attempt to appear legitimate.

The scam instructs residents to respond to a Bitcoin machine and deposit money. However, the Brick Township Police Department emphasizes that they would never ask individuals to make deposits or provide personal information over the phone without verifying the authenticity of the call.

Residents are advised to be vigilant and hang up immediately if they receive a suspicious call. To verify the legitimacy of the call, contact the Brick Township Police Department directly.

Never give out personal information over the phone unless the authenticity of the call has been verified.
