RWJBarnabas Health has formally recognized two Hatzolah paramedics for their lifesaving efforts in the recent Jackson drowning incident.
Medics Joshua (Yehoshua) Schmuckler and Yoel Tesser were dispatched to the scene after a young child was pulled from the water and found in cardiac arrest. Working alongside first responders, the Hatzolah team successfully resuscitated the child within minutes, restoring a pulse and stabilizing the patient before rushing to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Doctors at JSUMC continued care, and in what health officials are calling a “remarkable outcome,” the child was discharged just one week later with no neurological deficits.
In a message circulated internally to EMS staff, RWJBarnabas Health praised Schmuckler and Tesser for their rapid response and clinical expertise, writing: “You successfully resuscitated and achieved ROSC within minutes of patient contact. This patient was treated and discharged home with no neurological deficits a week later. Great job!!”
