Students attending Jackson’s Goetz Middle School received a message today that they should not attend school tomorrow, Thursday, due to a threat against them. School officials, however, say there is no credible threat to the students.
In a message to parents, school officials wrote, “Today we learned that a statement was made in school that students should not go to Goetz Middle School tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 19).”
“This notice is to inform you that the report was investigated thoroughly and has been addressed by both the School Resource Officer and school administrative staff. There is no threat to students or staff,” the memo says.
It isn’t clear what specific threat was made, but sources tell Lakewood Alerts that a message may have circulated insinuating that a student was planning to carry out a mass shooting at the school.
