Motorists traveling through Jackson and Howell this week may experience delays as the New Jersey Department of Transportation begins shoulder closures along key stretches of Route 195 for planned maintenance work.
The project runs from Tuesday, December 2, through Friday, December 5, and will affect both eastbound and westbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. NJDOT crews will focus on two major sections of the highway. The first spans milepost 11 to milepost 20, covering portions of Upper Freehold Borough, Millstone Township, and Jackson Township along the Monmouth–Ocean County line. This corridor is heavily used by Jackson residents traveling toward the Shore and Mercer County.
The second work area extends from milepost 30 to milepost 34.17 in Monmouth County, affecting Wall and Howell Townships. This segment serves as a crucial connector for Howell residents heading toward the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, Route 34, and Route 138.
Drivers should be prepared for slower travel, lane shifts, and the presence of workers along the roadway. NJDOT is urging motorists to reduce their speed, use caution, and anticipate potential delays, particularly during the morning and midday hours.
The agency noted that the schedule may be adjusted if weather or unforeseen conditions arise.
