Roshei Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha Endorse Meir Lichtenstein and Menashe Miller for Reelection

The Roshei Yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG) in Lakewood have endorsed Committeemen Meir Lichtenstein and Menashe Miller in their bids for reelection. The endorsement, issued in a joint letter from the Roshei Yeshiva on Monday evening, underscores the dedication and impact of Meir Lichtenstein and Menashe Miller’s service to the Lakewood community.

In the letter, the Roshei Yeshiva praise Meir and Menashe as askanim who have served the public with unwavering commitment for over two decades. They highlight their leadership as essential to managing Lakewood, home to 20,000 Jewish families, over 300 shuls and batei midrashim, and more than 200 yeshivos and schools.

The Roshei Yeshiva laud their dedication to communal needs, from housing and employment to religious and educational services. The letter also speaks to the warmth and kindness with which Meir and Menashe interact with the public, making themselves available to help the community at all times.

The endorsement from BMG’s Roshei Yeshiva comes with an open call to Lakewood voters to support them in Tuesday’s election. The Roshei Yeshiva note that the concept of participating in elections for the benefit of the Klal has deep roots in Jewish values. They cite the example of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l, who said that it was a “chov kadosh” to vote in elections to safeguard the interests of Klal Yisroel. Rav Aharon himself dedicated significant time to encouraging rabbanim and kehillos to participate in elections when it was to promote the welfare of the Klal.

The letter also points to the legacy of other great talmidei chachomim, including the Chofetz Chaim, Rav Chaim and Rav Yitzchak Zev of Brisk, and Rav Elazar Menachem Shach, all of whom advocated for involvement in elections as a means of supporting tzorchei haklal.

The letter concludes with an appeal for unity, encouraging the kehilla to unite in support of Lichtenstein and Miller.

  1. I know them both. Lakewood is lucky to have these two individuals among us. Two individuals that live for the tzibbur. Their biggest passion is to help both the yochid and the klal and they do it every waking moment! They have taught us what it means to be נושא בעול עם חבירו and how חסד is done.. אשרי חלקם!
