Rep. Smith Blasts Biden for Boosting Funding to U.N. Agency that Promotes Anti-Semitism

Rep. Chris Smith, senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today condemned the Biden Administration’s announcement of an additional $201 million for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA)—a troubled UN agency that has a history of fostering terrorism and anti-Semitism.

“UNRWA has a long and dark history of promoting violence and anti-Semitism while condoning terrorism,” said Rep. Smith, who co-chairs the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Anti-Semitism.

“UN Watch, an independent observer of the United Nations, has documented over 100 incidents of anti-Semitism and terrorism propagated by UNRWA teachers and employees—with 20 additional cases just last month,” said Smith.

“Funding the UN organization that underwrites teachers and staff calling for the slaughter of Jews and Israelis, praising Hamas’ attacks on innocent civilians, and admiring the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan is unconscionable,” Smith said.

Smith, a longtime champion for Israeli sovereignty and security, has repeatedly raised the alarm on the Biden Administration’s propagation of Palestine at the dire expense of Israel.

Just last month, Smith slammed the Biden Administration for its unprecedented move to establish a separate diplomatic office to Palestine in Israel’s capital—a decision that Smith called “a slap in the face to our great ally Israel.”
