President’s Day, which celebrates the birthday of George Washington, is being observed today.
Being a federal holiday, President’s Day will mean the closure of the stock market and government offices, suspension of mail delivery, and suspension of garbage pickup.
Additionally, most banks will be closed; TD Bank will be open.
The holiday was first established in 1885 and was officially named President’s Day in 1971. It is marked on the third Monday of each February.
