A storm still developing in the Atlantic Ocean could potentially threaten New Jersey and New York as Rosh Hashana begins next weekend.
Tropical Storm Lee is expected to become a powerful hurricane with wind speeds up to 150 mph in the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
What happens after that isn’t yet clear.
“Any potential impacts to the United States and Atlantic Canada will rely largely on the overall steering pattern of winds in place next week,” AccuWeather forecasters said.
As of now, the vast majority of weather models have the storm making a sharp northward turn that will keep it away from the coastal US. But some do show it turning a bit before slamming into the East Coast, with the eye almost directly over Central New Jersey.
Hopefully, Hurricane Lee will keep its distance and allow us to observe Rosh Hashana in peace.
Not a single model shows it hitting NJ. Not one.
