A coordinated emergency response was launched earlier today after a power outage impacted Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, following a nearby motor vehicle accident that caused the loss of commercial electricity to the facility.
According to the Ocean County EMS Coordinators, Hatzolah, Chaveirim, the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), hospital administrators, and other agencies were placed on standby in case patients needed to be evacuated. Responders acted swiftly to ensure that hospital operations could continue safely, demonstrating strong collaboration and professionalism.
A staging area was established by the Ocean County Fire Marshal to coordinate all responding agencies and resources. Fortunately, commercial power was restored after several hours, averting the need for evacuations. Emergency units stayed on site to confirm that hospital systems and surrounding healthcare facilities were functioning properly once power was restored.
Officials praised the prompt and professional actions of all agencies involved, emphasizing their dedication to protecting the community during emergencies.
“Thank you once again to all of the agencies who responded today to support,” Ocean County EMS Coordinators wrote in a statement.
