Police Statement After Lakewood High School is Locked Down Over Reported Threat

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, just before 5 pm, we received a call from the Howell Police Department in reference to an individual who reported that he witnessed a male exit a red pickup truck with an assault rifle near the Lakewood High School.

As a result, a lockdown of the high school was implemented and a systematic search for any possible threat was conducted with negative results.

Upon completion, the lockdown was lifted and several patrol units remained on scene until all students and staff ended their day.

Although this matter was determined to be unfounded, the Lakewood Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our children, teachers and administrators. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lakewood Police Department Detective Bureau at 732-363-0200.
