Police Seeking Help Identifying Suspect Who Robbed Gas Station, Beat Cashier

Toms River police officers were dispatched in the wee hours of Wednesday morning to a hold up alarm at the Speedway Gas Station located at 58 Route 37 E.

While units were responding, dispatch received information that an unknown suspect had attempted to rob the store. The unknown suspect entered the gas station wearing a facemask, walked behind the counter and attempted to enter the safe. The suspect proceeded to challenge the employee while grasping his waistline as if he had a weapon.

The employee attempted to call 911 but was physically assaulted by the suspect. During the altercation, the employee was able to partially remove the facemask exposing the suspect’s face, which was captured by surveillance cameras.
