Police Identify Suspects In Theft From Home Depot On Route 9 In December

Toms River police have identified two men sought in connection with the theft of nearly $3,000 worth of copper wire from Home Depot in December. An arrest warrant has been issued for at least one of them – Eric Jones, 41, of Wilmington, Delaware.

Jones has been charged with theft, robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the December 6, 2023, robbery at the Home Depot on Route 9. Police say Jones was one of two men involved in the incident, where one man used bolt cutters to cut a lock on cages holding copper wire and removed 27 rolls of 12-2 wire before threatening a Home Depot employee with a utility knife and fleeing the scene in a white Chevrolet Impala with Delaware license plate 562303.

Following tips from license plate readers in Pennsylvania, Toms River police were able to locate the vehicle in a Lowe’s parking lot in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania, and establish surveillance, identifying Jones as the driver and matching him to the Home Depot suspect.
