Police Arrest Lakewood Resident on Drug Charges After Noticing Suspicious Behavior

A Lakewood man was arrested late Friday night on drug-related charges following a proactive patrol conducted by Lakewood Police Department, authorities said.

According to police, officers were conducting patrol operations on January 10, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m. in an area known for narcotics activity when they observed behavior consistent with possible drug-related activity involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop as part of their investigation. During the course of the stop, further investigation was conducted based on the officers’ observations. As a result, suspected controlled dangerous substances were recovered from one individual.

The individual, identified as Shawn Labarge, 54, of Lakewood, was taken into custody without incident. Labarge was charged on an outstanding warrant with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and loitering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

The investigation was handled by Officers Cristiano and Matthews.
