Lakewood Alerts regrets to inform you of the petirah of Mrs. Miriam Schechter A”H, a dedicated morah, loving mother, and true eishes chayil, who passed away at the age of 69.
Mrs. Schechter, the wife of Rabbi Aryeh Schechter Shlita, collapsed suddenly a few weeks ago while at work in a daycare in Lakewood. Despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals and dedicated community organizations, she was niftar, leaving behind a profound legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to Torah values.
For decades, Morah Miriam was a cherished preschool teacher at Bais Yaakov D’Rav Meir, where she instilled a love for Torah and yiras Shamayim in countless students. After moving to Lakewood, she continued her avodas hakodesh at Positive Beginnings, where she was known for her dedication, patience, and deep connection to her students.
Beyond her role as an educator, Mrs. Schechter was known for her chesed and generosity. She built a home filled with Torah, opening her doors to guests for Shabbos meals and extending kindness to all who knew her. She raised a family rooted in strong Torah values, instilling in them the importance of learning, giving, and living a life of emunah.
The Schechter family expressed their deep hakaras hatov to those who played a role in giving them extra weeks with her. They acknowledged the efforts of her devoted colleagues, Lakewood Hatzolah, Bikur Cholim of Lakewood, Chaim Medical, Chayim Aruchim, Bikur Cholim of Philadelphia, and many others who supported them during this difficult time.
Mrs. Schechter is survived by her husband, Rabbi Aryeh Schechter, as well as her brothers, Reb Yitzchok Biegeleisen and Reb Gershon Biegeleisen. She leaves behind a beautiful Torah-true family, including her children, Chavie Katz, Dovi Schechter, Shaya Schechter, Hindy Goldberger, Yisroel Meir Schechter, Yaakov Schechter, Rochel Hersko, Menachem Schechter, Penina Gelbwachs, and Tzippy Stroh. Her legacy continues through the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on her values and the lessons she imparted.
The Levaya is scheduled to take place tonight at 12:00 AM at the Lakewood Chapel, 613 Ramey Avenue.
