This is just not normal. A child riding an electric scooter in the middle of the street with no helmet.
Parents don’t seem to care—until, chas v’shalom, it’s their own child suffering a permanent brain injury. A helmet takes seconds to put on. A traumatic brain injury can last a lifetime.
As Lakewood Alerts reported this week, Hatzolah of Central Jersey has launched a public awareness campaign after responding to more than 50 e-scooter-related injury calls in the past three months alone.
The organization warns that e-scooters are “claiming and ruining lives every day” and urges parents not to underestimate the dangers.
Please think twice before buying an e-scooter or e-bike for your child—and if they do ride one, make sure they wear a helmet. It could save their life.
