“Out of this World” Crime Spree Ends with Bizarre Discovery in New Jersey Home

A massive fraud scheme involving SpaceX Starlink terminals has been uncovered in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, leading to the arrest of the alleged mastermind, Kelvin Rodriguez-Moya, 35.

Beginning in December 2023, a “suspiciously large” number of shipments were delivered to a home in Lawrence Township, prompting detectives to investigate. They discovered that 675 SpaceX Starlink terminals, worth a staggering $400,000, had been purchased online using stolen credit card accounts. The terminals were then shipped to the home, picked up, and transported to North Jersey.

Police revealed that the Lawrence Township location was being used as a shipping and storage point for the illegal operation. In a subsequent traffic stop, more than 200 terminals were recovered after police observed them being loaded into a vehicle.

Rodriguez-Moya was arrested on Monday and charged with receiving and trafficking stolen property. SpaceX confirmed to police that this is the company’s “largest fraud recovery to date by an order of magnitude.”

The bizarre discovery has left authorities and residents stunned, with many wondering how such a large-scale operation could have gone undetected for so long. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to determine the full extent of the fraud and any potential accomplices.
