Officials Hunt for Black Charger with NJ License After Trooper Wounded

Authorities are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in the shooting of a New York state trooper late Wednesday night on Long Island. The incident occurred along the Southern State Parkway, near Exit 17 in West Hempstead, around 11:45 p.m., according to the New York State Police.

The trooper, who sustained a gunshot wound, was taken to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators are looking for a black Dodge Charger believed to be connected to the shooting. The vehicle has distinctive features, including custom matte gray dual exhaust tips, and may bear a temporary New Jersey license plate with the number 997636T. Authorities describe the suspect as a dark-skinned male.
