Ocean County Prosecutor Brad Billhimer was formally recognized by the FBI for his office’s critical role in prosecuting Dion Marsh, who carried out a series of violent hate crimes against Orthodox Jews in Lakewood and Jackson in 2022.
During the monthly meeting of the Ocean County Police Chiefs Association, FBI Newark Special Agent in Charge Stefanie Roddy presented Prosecutor Billhimer with the Bureau’s prestigious Director’s Certificate. The award honors the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office for its coordination and response in the aftermath of the April 2022 attacks, which included multiple carjackings and attempted murders targeting members of the Orthodox Jewish community.
Several other local law enforcement leaders were also recognized for their efforts in the Marsh investigation and prosecution. Honorees included Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy, Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew Kunz, Manchester Township Police Chief Antonio Ellis, and Lakewood Police Chief Gregory Meyer.
“These recognitions reflect the outstanding collaboration and swift action taken by law enforcement agencies across Ocean County to bring Dion Marsh to justice,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
