Ocean County Commissioner Vicari Retiring After 42 Years

Ocean County Commissioner Joe Vicari announced that he will not seek reelection to a fifteenth term, capping a remarkable 42-year career for the 76-year-old Commissioner.

Vicari was first elected to the Board of Freeholders in 1981 and also served as a committeeman in Toms River from 1980 to 1994.

At least two candidates have thus far submitted paperwork to succeed Vicari as Commissioner – Berkeley Township Committeeman James Byrne and former Brick Councilman Michael Thulen, Sr.
