Ocean County Arson Squad Investigating Huge Blaze at Vacant Lakewood Home

Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out at a 5th Street building Monday night, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

The blaze was reported shortly before 9 p.m. on November 25, when Lakewood police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. Responders arrived to find an active fire on the building’s second floor, the prosecutor’s office said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. No additional details, including possible injuries or the building’s occupancy status, were immediately available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Multiple agencies are involved, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit–Arson Squad, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the Lakewood Township Police Detective Bureau, and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office.
