A major police response at Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG) Wednesday afternoon ended with an all-clear after authorities determined that reports of possible gunshots were actually the sound of an HVAC crew working on the roof.
The incident began when multiple callers reported hearing what they believed were gunshots coming from the area, prompting a massive response from the Lakewood Police Department and other emergency personnel.
Out of an abundance of caution, dozens of armed officers, along with K-9 units and drones, responded to the campus and conducted a thorough sweep of the buildings to ensure there was no active threat.
Following the search, Lakewood Police and BMG officials confirmed to Lakewood Alerts that the noises were traced to HVAC work being performed on the roof and that there was never any danger to the public.
