New Jersey State Senator Declan O’Scanlon took to X (formerly Twitter) to denounce what he termed “drone hysteria,” pushing back against claims that unexplained drone activity across the U.S. could be linked to foreign actors such as China or Iran.
In a strongly worded post, O’Scanlon called the fear-mongering irresponsible, writing, “Scaring people into believing that Chinese or Iranian forces are behind this (likely mass hysteria) phenomenon is irresponsible.” He dismissed such claims as implausible, stressing that any such actions by a foreign power would be considered an act of war.
“China and Iran know this would be insane,” O’Scanlon continued, accusing certain leaders and media figures of stoking unnecessary fears for attention. “Stop proving that we’re this crazy…this gullible. Just stop,” he urged.
The senator’s remarks were in response to a New York Post article citing House Foreign Affairs Chair Michael McCaul suggesting that “spy drones” from China might be responsible for the mysterious aerial sightings.
