NJ Health Department: WIC Benefits Secure Through November Despite Federal Shutdown

As the federal government shutdown continues, New Jersey officials are reassuring families that benefits under the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will remain unaffected—at least for now.

The New Jersey Department of Health announced that, based on current spending patterns, funding for WIC benefits and services will continue without interruption through November 2025. The department said it will provide ongoing updates through local WIC agencies, its website, and official social media channels.

WIC provides low-income women, infants, and children with access to nutritious foods, breastfeeding support, and vital health resources. State officials emphasized that these services remain a top priority even amid uncertainty in Washington.

“Access to healthy foods and family support programs is essential to the well-being of New Jersey’s mothers and children,” the department said in a statement. “We will continue to explore every option to ensure that eligible families have uninterrupted access to nutritious foods and essential care should the shutdown extend beyond November.”
