New Jersey Senior Freeze Reimbursement Checks Begin July 15 For Eligible Residents

Eligible New Jersey seniors and disabled residents who applied early for the state’s Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Program will begin receiving their reimbursement checks starting Wednesday, July 15, according to the New Jersey Division of Taxation.

The Senior Freeze program reimburses qualifying homeowners and mobile home residents for increases in property taxes or mobile home park site fees on their primary residence.

The payment schedule is based on when applications were submitted:

  • Filed before May 1, 2026: Payments begin July 15, 2026
  • Filed between May 1 and June 1, 2026: On or before September 1, 2026
  • Filed between June 2 and September 1, 2026: On or before November 1, 2026
  • Filed between September 5 and November 1, 2026: On or before December 1, 2026

The deadline to apply for the 2025 Senior Freeze benefit is November 2, 2026.

To qualify, applicants generally must:

  • Be 65 or older by December 31, 2025, or receive qualifying federal disability benefits.
  • Have owned and lived in their home since 2022 or earlier (or meet the mobile home residency requirements).
  • Meet the program’s income limits for 2024 and 2025.

Residents can check the status of their reimbursement application through the New Jersey Division of Taxation’s online Senior Freeze portal or by calling the Senior Freeze Property Tax Reimbursement Information Line at 800-882-6597.
