New Jersey Opens Pre-Application Period for State Rental Assistance Program

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced the opening of the pre-application period for the State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) waiting list. Beginning January 13, 2025, and running through January 31, 2025, eligible New Jersey residents can apply online for a chance to receive critical state rental assistance.

The SRAP program aims to provide safe, stable, and affordable housing to veterans, seniors, disabled individuals, and low-income families.

A total of 6,000 households will be selected through a computer-randomized lottery at the end of the pre-application period and placed on the SRAP waiting list. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, or an emancipated minor, and must be New Jersey residents to apply.

Priority will be given to households that qualify for specific preferences, including veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, disabled individuals, elderly households, and local residency.

The lottery process will be conducted at the close of the application period, and individuals selected from the lottery will be notified by email. Applicants can check their status online after February 14, 2025.
