New Jersey Homeowners And Renters To Receive Letters Notifying Them Of 2024 ANCHOR Rebates

Over 1.5 million homeowners and renters in New Jersey will receive letters this week notifying them of automatic payments from the state’s ANCHOR property tax relief program this fall. These individuals, who have previously received ANCHOR payments, won’t need to take any action to receive their funds.

However, approximately 300,000 residents who have changed their address, name, or bank account information since their last successful application will need to file a new application by September 15.

Additionally, over 2 million residents will receive letters with information on how to apply for the program in 2024, with a deadline of November 30 to submit their application.

The ANCHOR program, which stands for Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters, provides eligible residents with up to $1,750 in property tax relief. This year’s program will use 2021 property tax information, and eligibility is based on residency, income, and age for that tax year.

Homeowners can receive up to a $1,500 refund, while renters can get up to $450. Eligible seniors 65 and older will receive an extra $250.

The state has implemented improvements to the application process, including the ability to securely upload documents and an automatic callback feature for the ANCHOR call center.

For more information, residents can visit anchor.nj.gov or call the ANCHOR hotline at (609) 826-4282 or 1-888-238-1233. In-person assistance is also available at Regional Information Centers.
