A rookie New Jersey cop has found himself in hot water after apparently lying about the actions of a motorist – not realizing he was being recorded the whole time.
The cop, Officer Ayad Taha of the Westfield Police Department, pulled the driver over, accusing him of speeding. However, the evidence suggests that the cop pulled him over not for speeding, but because the driver flashed an offensive gesture at him as he drove by.
While the driver was certainly being a jerk, the cop appears to be certainly in the wrong. For once, it looks like a lying cop will be held accountable for their actions.
“The allegations made in this video will be thoroughly and completely investigated, this to determine if the officer’s actions were lawful and proper,” Westfield Chief Christopher Battiloro said in a statement.
