New Gas-Powered Cars Could Be Illegal In New Jersey By 2035

If you enjoy the gas-guzzler you currently drive, be prepared for a tearful goodbye if environmentalists have their way.

New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection is coming under increasing pressure from environmental groups to adopt the Advanced Clean Cars II program, which would require every new car or light truck sold in the state to be powered by electricity. The deadline for this change under Advanced Clean Cars II program is 2035.

The program, which is led by the Sierra Club environmental group, would provide benefits to New Jerseyans, according to its proponents, including decreased respiratory illnesses resulting in billions in healthcare savings. They also claim it would create thousands of new jobs.

Governor Murphy has recommended that New Jersey adopt the Advanced Clean Cars II program, but ultimately it is up to the state’s DEP to make that determination, which would come after public hearings and comments.

  1. Never mind that electric cars are more expensive. This is a sick religion. Only the blue state are going along with this. The funny thing is that this will do nothing since China and India who are 2 of the biggest “offenders” refuse to stop fossil fuels so whatever we’re going to do isn’t going to help.
