Assemblyman Ned Thomson’s reelection campaign against Avi Schnall is facing some headwinds from within his own party, as evidenced by a Facebook user taking Thomson to task for focusing on Schnall’s religion rather than his positions on the issues.
Thomson’s campaign posted a photo on Facebook of the letter signed by the BMG roshei yeshiva and other leading gedolim in support of Avi Schnall. Along with the letter written in Hebrew, the underscoring of “Avi Schnall from Lakewood” in the caption made it clear what they were trying to do – bring anti-Jewish sentiments to the surface.
This angered a Facebook page named “Jackson Republicans,” who went on a rampage against Thomson for ignoring the issues and focusing on race-baiting over Schnall’s religion, and engaged in a heated debate over the matter with other users.
The entirety of the conversation has apparently since been deleted, as Thomson doesn’t come out looking good from it, but Lakewood Alerts obtained screenshots from it, which can be viewed below.
