Harav Yaakov Bender shlit”a, the rosh yeshiva of Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway, and one of the preeminent mechanchim in the U.S., was in Lakewood on Monday for a special Memorial Day “Hashkafa in the Workplace” vaad.
During his remarks and the following Q&A session, Rav Bender covered numerous topics and issues related to chinuch and shalom bayis that readers may find profound and enlightening.

Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky would see no problem. He would say , as he did, the boys need excercise. And so do the parents, both mothers and fathers.
No one said they shouldn’t exercise, R’ Bender even said in his example that in the 5 towns they play sports and move on and aren’t obsessed. His point was very simply that if something like playing sports is becoming a whole “eissek”, its gotten out of hand. Don’t put words in the mouths of the gedolim and stretch what you think they would say based on a fabrication of your mind and what you think they would think…..
Would Rav yaakov be ok with kids worshipping each other over their athletic abilities? Or was he ok with exercise
He would say they need excercise and its the parent’s obligation to raise them to not worship each other.
It seems that you totally missed R’ Bender’s message. Maybe listen more closely before you comment.
