Murder, Drugs, DWI: The Lakewood Police Department’s Weekly Blotter

DRUGS
June 1, 2023 – At 5 pm Officer Joseph Mandelbaum patrolling the area of Massachusetts Avenue observed a vehicle failed to stop at the red traffic light and the Officer conducted a motor vehicle traffic stop. During the duration of the traffic stop, K9 handler Officer Joseph Dellavella and K9 SHIM arrived at the scene and performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle. and K9 SHIM indicated a positive presence of narcotics. After further investigation, Robert M. Stevens, 55 years old, from Toms River NJ was arrested and charged with the following: possession of/Drug paraphernalia, and possession/narcotic.

Lt. Jason Pederson, Officers Kyle Seehausen, Joseph Dellavella, and k9 SHIM assisted in the investigation.

MVA/DWI
May 29, 2023 – At 11:30 pm Officer Adam Bylsma responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of New Hampshire Avenue. Brian Huerta-Tochihuito 19 years old, from Jackson, NJ was arrested for DWI and charged with the following: DWI, Underage Drinking, Reckless Driving, Failure to Stay in Marked Lane, and Open Alcoholic Beverage in Vehicle.

Officers Michelle Lopez, Anthony Prisco, Bryan Vega, and Wendell Hunter assisted in the investigation.

DWI
June 4, 2023 – At 01:30 am Officer Kyle Seehausen patrolled in the area of Cedarbridge Avenue and observed a vehicle traveling without the headlights or taillights. The officer conducted a motor vehicle traffic stop. Jorge Aguirre-Nino, 48 years old, from Howell, NJ was arrested for DWI and charged with the following: DWI, and Failure to Stay in Marked Lane.

Officers Robert Meyer, JR., Michelle Lopez, Anthony D’Angelo, and Lukus Wade assisted.

HOMICIDE
May 30, 2023 – At noon Sgt. Dibiase, Officers Daniel Umlauf, Anthony D’Angelo, and Christopher Dunphey during a well-being check found a female deceased. A prompt investigation revealed John Filistovich, 59 years old, from Lakewood, NJ was the assailant and was arrested and charged with murder.

Sgt. Christopher Dibiase, Officers Jon Pederson, Amanda Esmart, Kevin Seunath, Lukus Wade, Daniel Brooks, Eric Micallef, Christopher Dunphey, Detective Matthew Richardson, OCPO Major Crimes, and OC Sheriff’s Department CSI assisted in the investigation.
