There will be lane closures and alternating traffic on Massachusetts Avenue from Cross Street to Prospect Street as the County works to remove a hill that obstructs drivers’ view.
The preparation for this project started today, Monday, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer break in early September. The project was postponed until the summer when there is typically less traffic in town.
There will also be intermittent lane and shoulder closures on Cross Street from Augusta Boulevard to Route 9 over the next year. This is part of a project to widen the road and relocate utility poles.
Over the next two weeks, there will be lane and shoulder closures/shifts on James Street from Williams Street to Sunset Road for road striping. After completion, the traffic light at the intersection will flash yellow for three days and then operate regularly.
