Multiple Lakewood Sidewalk Projects Completed This Season

Residents in various neighborhoods around Lakewood are now able to enjoy leisurely walks thanks to newly installed pedestrian sidewalks. The freshly paved walkways, located on Cedar Bridge Avenue, Locust Street, and County Line Road East, provide a safe and pleasant experience for pedestrians.

The installation of the sidewalks was a result of a collaborative effort between Lakewood’s Mayor, Township Committee members, and County officials, who worked together to address residents’ requests for improved infrastructure. The project involved navigating bureaucratic processes, securing funding, clearing existing weeds and impediments, and working around underground utility lines.

The new sidewalks feature curved sections for wheelchair mobility, ensuring accessibility for all residents. Children and adults alike can now easily navigate the neighborhood, with many preferring to take a stroll rather than drive.

The Locust Street sidewalk is complemented by recently added turning lanes, which have enhanced traffic flow and safety for both pedestrians and motorists.

Lakewood Township Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein praised the collaborative effort, stating, “As Lakewood’s neighborhoods grow and change, it’s crucial that government addresses residents’ evolving needs. I’d like to thank our dedicated officials for working together to update and improve our Town’s infrastructure on behalf of our residents.”

  1. And what about traffic lights. 7th St & Princeton where you have two yeshivahs and a shul. Also by The railroad crossing on Park? Also have a shul there as well and FoodEx. Also need more traffic safety such as ticketing illegally parked cars on wrong side of street facing oncoming traffic. When these drivers pull out you are looking at near head on collisions.

The township should put in place as Tom’s River does a traffic safety division.
