The Jackson Township Police Department has announced that Whitesville Road will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, November 18, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. A to Z Contractors will undertake extensive roadwork in the area, with the closure expected to last approximately 30 days. However, this timeline may vary depending on weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
During the closure, Whitesville Road will be inaccessible due to significant construction that will make the roadway impassable. The Jackson Township Police Traffic Safety Unit has provided alternate routes and specific access guidelines for residents and emergency services:
- Calendula Drive and Canon Boulevard Access: Access to these areas, including residences numbered 26 through 76 on Whitesville Road, will be available only from East Veterans Highway.
- Canon Boulevard Residents: Those residing on Canon Boulevard may access their homes via Canon Boulevard or a temporary roadway being constructed adjacent to Canon Boulevard, which will accommodate emergency vehicles.
- Grawtown Road Access: Grawtown Road can be accessed directly from East Veterans Highway or from South Hope Chapel Road.
- Denton Lane Access: Only accessible from the South Hope Chapel Road side.
- Residences Numbered 79 to 300 on Whitesville Road: These residences will only be accessible from South Hope Chapel Road.
Road closure signs will be placed at both ends of Whitesville Road to alert drivers. Officers will be stationed daily near Calendula and Grawtown Roads to assist residents and motorists as necessary. The designated detour route will direct traffic from East Veterans Highway to South Hope Chapel Road and vice versa.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan alternate routes during the closure period. Emergency services have been informed and will have coordinated access to all affected areas.
For further assistance, residents may contact the Jackson Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
