Local residents will have a convenient opportunity to take care of important motor vehicle needs later this month, as the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission’s Mobile Unit returns to Lakewood on Thursday, August 21st. The event will take place in the back parking lot of Assemblyman Avi Schnall’s office, located at 500 River Avenue.
The Mobile MVC will offer a range of services, including the processing of REAL IDs, non-driver IDs, registration renewals, initial permits (written tests not included), and duplicate or replacement titles and registrations.
Appointments are required for these services, and demand is expected to be high. The appointment portal will go live on Thursday, August 7th, between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Residents are encouraged to visit the official MVC scheduling page during that window and act quickly, as slots are limited and typically fill up fast.

- Surrendering license plates
- Obtaining handicapped, veterans, or Purple Heart placards
