A 23-year-old man who had been reported missing in the Jackson/Howell area has been found dead.
Ishawn Pitts was discovered inside his vehicle, according to law enforcement officials. Police have not yet released the cause of death and said it remains unclear whether foul play is suspected.
Pitts had been the subject of a missing person alert after he was last seen in the Jackson and Howell area. According to information circulated in the alert, he was described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 153 pounds, with long dreadlocks and tattoos on his left arm.
Authorities said Pitts had been driving a dark gray 2021 Honda Accord with tinted windows, bearing New Jersey license plate F83UFJ. He was last reported wearing a black or navy hoodie and red Manalapan-branded pants.
The alert prompted calls for information from the public, with the Jackson Township Police Department asking anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward.
Investigators have not released additional details surrounding the circumstances of Pitts’ death.
