MANCHESTER: Two Transported to Trauma Center Following Crash at Eighth Avenue and Cumberland Boulevard

Two people, including a 6-year-old child, were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center following a crash early Sunday morning in Manchester Township.

Police say the collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. at Eighth Avenue and Cumberland Boulevard when a westbound 2018 Honda Fit struck the rear of a parked 2009 Hyundai Azera. The Honda sustained heavy front-end damage, while the Hyundai suffered moderate rear-end damage.

Authorities said a 25-year-old female passenger and a 6-year-old child in the Honda were injured and transported to the trauma center for treatment. A 2-year-old child in the vehicle appeared uninjured. The driver of the Honda and the occupant of the parked Hyundai were not injured.

Manchester Township Police are investigating the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that failure to maintain lane was the primary contributing factor. Emergency responders from Manchester Township EMS, Berkeley First Aid, and Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics assisted at the scene.
