The Manchester Township Police Department has announced a series of personnel changes, including the promotion of two officers to the rank of Sergeant, the designation of a Corporal, and a lateral transfer to the Investigations Bureau. The promotions and assignments were formalized during a ceremony held at the Municipal Complex Civic Center, attended by Chief Antonio Ellis, Mayor Joseph Hankins, Township Council members, department personnel, and invited guests.
Detective Patrick Cervenak and Patrolman Jason Wiener were both promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Patrolman Robert Maccaquano received the designation of Corporal, and Patrolman Thomas Chant was transferred laterally to serve as a Detective in the Investigations Bureau.
Chief Ellis acknowledged the accomplishments of the officers being recognized.
“Today, we elevate two accomplished veteran officers as they assume leadership roles as Sergeants, recognize a seasoned veteran patrolman as Corporal for his years of honorable service, and welcome a new Detective to our Investigations Bureau,” said Chief Ellis. “These individuals have earned their roles and recognitions, as they have continually demonstrated their commitment to serving the Manchester Township community.”
Sergeant Patrick Cervenak began his law enforcement career with the Manchester Township Police Department in 2007. After serving in the Patrol Division, he joined the Investigations Bureau in May 2023. He holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from California Coast University and has received over 20 awards and commendations during his career, including the Chief’s Award, Valor Award, and multiple Meritorious Service and Exceptional Duty Awards.
Sergeant Jason Wiener joined the department in 2011 and served in the Patrol Division prior to his promotion. His commendations include two Honorable Service Awards, the Administrative Commendation Award, Chief’s Recognition Award, Lifesaving Awards, the Kimberly Smith Ames DWI Award, and the MADD Award. He also earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from California Coast University in 2020.
Corporal Robert Maccaquano has served with the department since 2005, with experience in both patrol and investigations. His specialized assignments include Firearms Instructor and departmental trainer in various critical incident response areas. His awards include a Life Saving Award, multiple Meritorious and Honorable Service Awards, and a Pistol Distinguished Expert Award.
Detective Thomas Chant joined the department in 2013 and was previously assigned to the Investigations Bureau in a part-time capacity beginning in 2021. His responsibilities have included Field Training Officer, Firearms Background Investigator, and participation in the department’s Accreditation team.
Chief Ellis concluded the ceremony by expressing appreciation to township leadership.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mayor Hankins, members of the Township Council, and Township Administration for their continued support of our police department and our mission to serve our residents to the highest possible level,” said Chief Ellis. “We wish each officer success as they continue their law enforcement careers in service of Manchester Township and its residents.”
