Man Dies in Crash After Stealing Motorcycle in Lakewood

A man driving a motorcycle he apparently stole from Lakewood was killed after being involved in an accident in Old Bridge.

Police said the 33-year-old, who was not identified pending relative notification, was going north on Route 34 in Old Bridge when he hit a vehicle making a turn.

Old Bridge Acting Police Chief Scott Gumprecht said the man died at the scene after suffering fatal injuries.

It isn’t clear when the motorcycle was stolen from Lakewood Township, and police have not yet released any further information about the theft or subsequent fatal accident.
