Man Charged With Criminal Mischief After Shattering Door at Lakewood MVC Office

A man was charged with criminal mischief after a glass entrance door was shattered at the Motor Vehicle Commission office in Lakewood on Friday.

Officers responded to the MVC facility on Route 70 at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Friday for a report of property damage.

Police said Mingo Kersey Jr., 57, of Asbury Park, became upset after being denied vehicle registration due to improper documentation. As he exited the building, Kersey allegedly struck the front entrance door, causing the glass to shatter.

Damage to the door was estimated at approximately $1,500, police said.
