A New Jersey man has been charged with murder over an incident that left a young woman dead at the Woodrow Wilson Service Area in Hamilton Township in the early hours of last Thursday.
The tragedy unfolded shortly after 3 a.m. when troopers from the Troop “D” Moorestown Station received a report of an unresponsive woman found laying on the ground within the employee parking lot of the Woodrow Wilson Service Area. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Jamyra C. Odom from Trenton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
During their investigation, authorities pinpointed a white SUV as a potential suspect vehicle. This led law enforcement officers to a vehicle matching the description, which was found parked near the Capital Health Systems Fuld Campus in Trenton. Inside the emergency room of the facility was Dandre L. McDaniels Jr. seeking treatment for wounds to his hands. Subsequent investigation revealed the chilling details of the confrontation that led to the girl’s murder.
According to the State Police, McDaniels Jr. allegedly confronted Odom, who was employed at the service area’s Burger King and was on a scheduled shift at the time of the incident. Following a verbal altercation, McDaniels Jr. is believed to have repeatedly stabbed Odom before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. He struck Odom with his vehicle as he fled the area, inflicting critical injuries.
McDaniels Jr., 23, a resident of Trenton, now faces a slew of charges, including murder and other offenses.
