Major Winter Storm Watch Issued as Heavy Snow, Ice and Dangerous Cold Loom

Forecasters are warning that a significant winter storm is on track to impact Ocean County and much of New Jersey this weekend, with the Lakewood area expected to see some of the heaviest snowfall in the region.

According to an updated snowfall map released Thursday afternoon by the National Weather Service, the general Lakewood area is currently forecast to receive between 8 and 18 inches of snow between Saturday night and early Monday morning. The storm is expected to begin Saturday evening and continue through Monday, bringing prolonged periods of heavy snow and potentially difficult travel conditions.

All of New Jersey will be under a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday evening through Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists cautioned that snowfall totals could still change as the storm system develops and the track becomes clearer. However, confidence continues to increase that much of the state, including Ocean County, will experience a major snow event.
