MAILBAG: How Low Have We Stooped?

Shocking and disgusting are some of the words that come to mind when I think about what I witnessed from a local clothing store right here in Lakewood. Videos circulating on social media made their way to me, showing a party at a store that was so horrifically inappropriate that it blows my mind that such deviancy has come to Lakewood.

You want to have a party? Fine. You want to do inappropriate things? Not as fine, but not my problem. But to essentially publicly go ahead and have a runway show with models that aren’t tznius and have mixed dancing at this event is way, way beyond the line.

I know people will complain that this is their parnassah so they should be left alone. But your parnassah coming at other people’s spiritual expense is not okay. You can make a living and have a successful clothing store while still abiding by halacha. You can get rich without taking Lakewood down a notch.

There’s no place for such behavior in Lakewood. I know the town has changed and it’s not the Lakewood of old. But can’t we have any standards anymore?

  1. Of course send it in to review. Because you’re no better than the fake news media who also review everything and post what they want to post.

If you indeed did right this letter then I would tell you thar You’re lacking some self esteem. You feel so entitled that you even wrote “ they could do whatever they want, but it has nothing to do with me” if that’s really so then don’t shop there and move on but no. You can’t. You feel like lashan hara is ok? Your bias. You’re the left.

  2. This is not haram, no imam would approve of such terrible activities in there community.

That’s what’s this sounds like, get a life seriously.

  3. I agree with the author.
Rav Avigdr Miller Zt”l and the Chofetz Chaim both said that the holocaust came about from such behavior.
Please protect our nation and yourselves too from destruction.
    Thank you!

  4. THIS IS LAKEWOOD??? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE IHR HATORAH????

    MI LAHESHEM ELAY!
    Kudos to the letter author

  5. Honestly it didn’t look inappropriate. So they had a party and dancing, what’s the matter? Its a women’s clothing store, was a women’s event (though it seemed to be a kind of private like just friends). You don’t like it, don’t go. Why the need to blast them to the whole town?

    • Mixed dancing. Provocative outfits. What’s the matter if I drill a hole in my cabin in the ship? You don’t like it, don’t drill any holes in your cabin. Live and let live….
