MAILBAG: Appreciating Mayor Coles, The DPW, And The Positive Work Being Done In Lakewood

In a world filled with constant complaining and kvetching, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the positive work being done here in Lakewood by the people who truly care about our community. Specifically, I want to commend our Mayor, Ray Coles, and the hardworking team at the Department of Public Works.

Just recently, I had an experience that exemplified their dedication. I noticed a large crack and hole forming on Clifton Avenue, a potential hazard to our residents. I was fortunate enough to have Mayor Coles’ contact information and immediately sent him photos of the issue. Within two hours—yes, two hours—a DPW crew was out there fixing it.

This experience was not only efficient but heartwarming. In a time where negativity often seems to dominate the conversation, it’s refreshing to see that there are leaders and teams in Lakewood who care deeply about ensuring our town runs smoothly and remains a great place to live.

We are lucky to have people like Mayor Coles and the DPW who are so in-tune with the needs of the town and are always willing to go the extra mile. It’s a reminder that, even in the face of criticism, there are indeed people making a difference for the better.

  1. Wow would be great to have the Mayor’s number so I can send in all the problems I have in Lakewood. But not all of us have that so positivity with a twist.

  2. The reason why you think he’s so in tune, is because you said your self, you’re fortunate enough to have Mayor Coles’ contact information and immediately sent him photos of the issue. I don’t think 99% of Lakewood residents would ever be rewarded with that information. So you must be someone important. Maybe I’ll get your number and send you pictures of all the other issues which you can forward to him. Hopefully then the other issues will finally get solved
